Director‘s Statement:
Filmed over a span of three years, Using may not have required constant shooting, but as time stretched on, the relationship between the director himself and the protagonist, Ah Long, continually evolved. What kind of dynamic should truly exist between a documentary filmmaker and their subject? This film offers its own compelling answer.

tbh, I was very dubious when it started and in the way the camera was focusing on Ah-Jun's face; I saw it as cheap sentimentalism. But, as Hao's relationship with Ah-long got deeper and brought its tension on camera, I was 100% engaged and related. Excellent.
