Life is like a whip, and we are like spinning tops. We keep moving forward only when struck and lashed. Once the whipping stops, so do we. But you may try to grasp that whip yourself, deciding where to spin and how fast.
This middle-aged woman is trapped in self-imposed moral bondage. Her pressure comes not only from the outside world, but also from an inner moral dilemma. Faced with life’s hardships, she sees no escape but to endure. Life is often helpless, leaving few real choices. To live for others, or to live for herself — a struggle between duty and obligation.
