Director‘s Statement:
China is divided into 34 provincial-level administrative regions, which are further comprised of over 1,500 counties. Back in those years, local officials in mainland China predominantly faced two major challenges: first, how to attract investment to boost the local economy; and second, how to do everything in their power to resolve the various social conflicts arising from rapid development. I was fortunate enough to capture an authentic slice of reality from that era.
