Jin Jiang

Jin Jiang is an independent documentary filmmaker from China, born in 1989 in Luoyang. He currently works and lives between Beijing and Tokyo. Rooted in long-term documentary practice, his films are known for their keen social observation and distinctive narrative approach, and have attracted sustained attention from the international film community.
His works have been selected for major international film festivals, including the Berlin International Film Festival, the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), and the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). His representative works include Shang’ajia, which received the Jury Prize at the Beijing Independent Film Festival; One Day, which won the Artistic Exploration Award at the Beijing International Short Film Festival (BISFF) and the Best Short Film Award at the Trento Film Festival in Italy. Republic received the Mecenat Award, the highest documentary honor at the Busan International Film Festival, as well as the Grand Prize at the Image Forum Festival in Japan and the International Competition Award at the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM). Republic premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2023 and subsequently had its European premiere in the Forum section of the 74th Berlin International Film Festival.
