Director‘s Statement:
This short film is my graduate thesis project, and also the fulfillment of a promise I made to myself many years ago.
A few years ago, my family told me that my grandfather, old and with failing eyesight, had missed the holes while planting beans in the field. When he realized it, he shed tears.
My heart ached deeply when I heard this. Having been raised by my grandparents since I was little, I had never seen him cry. At that moment, I knew I wanted to make a film about this story.
Unexpectedly, he passed away suddenly the following year. I was overwhelmed with grief and deep regret. Finishing this work weighed heavily on my mind. I feared that time would fade my memories and leave me with lifelong regret. So I was all the more eager to tell this story, and dedicate it to my grandfather in heaven.
